About the MBBS Program at Chongqing Medical Univeristy
CQMU offers a 6-year English-medium Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, designed to equip international students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical expertise needed for a successful medical career worldwide.
Approved by the Ministry of Education of China and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WHO), the MBBS program at CQMU is recognized by international bodies such as the National Medical Commission (India), ECFMG (USA), and medical councils in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The curriculum integrates foundational medical sciences, clinical training, and practical experience across CQMU’s six affiliated Upper First-class (3A) hospitals, which collectively manage over 10,000 beds and 7.9 million outpatient visits annually. The program includes five years of classroom and laboratory-based learning followed by a mandatory one-year internship, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for global licensing exams like USMLE, PLAB, and NLE.
Admission Requirements
- Only the Fall intake starting in September
- All applications must be submitted before September 10, 2025. Students are recommended to submit your application through Universities China at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline of the school to ensure there is enough time to process documents.
- Age between 18 – 25.
- Applicants must be citizens of a country other than the People’s Republic of China.
- Hold a valid passport or citizenship certificate from their own country for more than 4 years (inclusive).
- Have a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years within the recent 4 years (before April 30 of the year of admission).
- Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, have no record of bad behavior, and abide by China’s laws and regulations as well as CQMU’s rules and regulations.
- Applicants must have sufficient financial resources to support their studies and living in China.
- Applicants must have graduated from a high school or equivalent institution and be awarded a high school diploma or higher. Applicants must have chosen the science stream in their high school level studies, which, besides Math and English language, should comprise pure science subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
- A minimum average of 70% or higher on the school exit exam.
- Applicants whose native language is not English must present an IELTS academic score with an overall score of 6 or above and no section below 5; or a TOEFL iBT score of 85 with no section below 15. Applicants who have been entirely taught in English during high school may be exempt from the English proficiency test. They must present supporting documents.
- HSK 5 or above is required for programs taught in Chinese. Preference will be given to English-taught program students with HSK test.
